Lets GO OUT! 5 Quick and Simple Tips to Help You Plan an Outdoor Dining Party
You are Invited to My Garden Inspired Dinner Party!!!!
I believe one of the most overlooked areas of my friends’ homes, when it comes to entertaining; is their backyard space. Yes, their backyard! If you have a lawn large enough to place a dining table and, you are at a creative block for your next dinner, brunch, and/or celebration; then these tips are just for you!
Theme: I am loving the few plants I have. And with the grace of God, help from my mother-in-law, hubby and kiddos, I am some how, managing to keep them alive! My Garden theme was achieved because of my love for Rosemary. I cut six stems from my Rosemary plant, then wrapped each of them in Kraft paper ( I measured and cut a brown paper bag into sections) and finished each off with a burlap string. This can be used as a simple party favor and, a table placement; by writing guest names on the Kraft paper with Gel colored pens or a simple black Sharpie.
Dining table: I relocated my outdoor dining table to my lawn, and although I love a beautiful wood outdoor table; I went with a vintage white table cloth that I scored for $2.50 at my local thrift store. The vintage table cloth’s small print details caught my eye.
Dinnerware: I went with white dinnerware, because of the beautiful color contrast you will receive from the food and rich green tones of the lawn. Not to mention, I have a border line obsession for white dinnerware; in all shapes and sizes. This makes for a great choice because you can find beautiful white dinnerware in various price points, making it affordable for every budget.
Glassware: Vintage Milk Jars were used for my glassware, they were affordable and fun. I utilized the same burlap string from the rosemary party favors to tie around the neck of the jars; and threw in a few straws for fun.
Centerpiece: Do not forget about your centerpiece. It can be vases and/or bowls of citrus fruits, candles, flowers, potted plants. I went with a traditional candelabra to give a hint of old worldly glam to my outdoor garden feast. Plus candle light makes everyone look great! The beautiful Hydrangeas and assorted green flowers were just enough pop of color. The flowers, I copped for under $10, yes, I said, “for under $10!” During my morning visit to my local Krogers grocery store, they had a price reduction in the florist department.
Guests: Hey, I don’t think I need to give you guys any tips regarding guests. However, I will say this: A mix of fun guests + delicious food + tasty libations = good conversations and a great time!
