GUILT-FREE: KALE DAIQUIRI
HOW TO MAKE A GUILT-FREE "KALE DAIQUIRI"
A couple of months ago while waiting in the check-out line to purchase groceries, a Magazine caught my attention it was called: Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest “drinks & snacks”. I picked up the magazine and immediately wished the cashier would just slow down already, with cashing out the customer ahead of me. I needed just a few more minutes to thumb through the pages! Well, that didn’t happen so in my basket it went, and I am sooo glad it did. With the holidays and cool weather approaching, entertaining at home is what I love to do! And with this lil magazine giving so many fresh spins on small bites and happy hour drinks, I am in good hands!
As I went through this magazine over and over again, each time folding pages of drinks and appetizers that I can not wait to make, there was one page I kept gravitating to; Page 49: THE KALE DAIQUIRI. I don’t know if it was the low 223 calories per serving, the 5 simple ingredients or the white Rum that caught my attention; either one, I felt I would be Winning! Surprisingly, my curiosity must have gotten the best of me because a month later I was in the kitchen with one of my girlfriends (test subject #1 :-)) blending it up. It was a success, she Loved it, I Liked it, to me it tasted like a clean & refreshing "green smoothie". I later remade the Kale Daiquiri for my husband (test subject #2:-) ) and he Loved it, as well! Shortly after my husband saying how he Loved it, I added a little more lime and white Rum and guess what I Loved it too!
So ladies, if you like green smoothies and/or don’t want to feel guilty having a drink after an awesome workout, this drink just may be for you!
